Redesigning a Sober Community App from Dating to Connection
The Challenge
DryBaby began as a dating app for sober singles, but as user behavior evolved, the team recognized a deeper need: people weren’t just looking for romance — they were looking for connection, community, and shared experience.
This strategic pivot required a complete product redesign. The existing app flows, onboarding logic, and interface were all built around dating interactions. To succeed as a community-first platform, DryBaby needed a new UX foundation, refined brand story, and an interface that encouraged engagement, belonging, and trust.



Our Approach
We partnered closely with DryBaby’s leadership and engineering team to lead a full UX/UI redesign and product strategy sprint—turning a dating concept into a modern, scalable social app.
What We Did
Product Strategy & Flow Redesign: Re-architected user journeys to shift focus from matching and swiping to connecting through posts, messaging, and local discovery.
Onboarding Experience: Designed a new onboarding flow that introduces community values, allows for goal-setting, and helps users find relevant groups or nearby sober members.
Social & Community Features: Rethought the app’s home feed, messaging, and people-nearby features to foster connection and reduce friction for new users.
Design System & UI Overhaul: Built a cohesive component library and visual identity aligned with DryBaby’s brand—clean, uplifting, and safe.
Engineering Collaboration: Worked hand-in-hand with their in-house dev team to ensure design feasibility, maintain consistency, and prepare for future releases.
Investor-Ready Pitch Deck: Designed a high-impact deck to articulate the new vision, market opportunity, and product evolution for DryBaby’s fundraising and partnerships.
